Privacy Policy: ZephyrTV
Effective 3 June 2026. Last updated 3 June 2026.
ZephyrTV ("the app") is a player for your own IPTV playlists. You provide the playlist or the provider details, and the app plays them directly from your device. We are not an IPTV provider, and we do not supply, host or resell any channels or streams. This policy explains what the app accesses, the limited data that third parties collect in the free version, and the rights you have. It is written to comply with the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and Google Play's User Data policy and Data safety requirements.
1. Who we are (the data controller)
This app is provided by the developer of ZephyrTV ("Zephyr", "we", "us"), package
com.zephyrtv.app. For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, please contact
[email protected].
2. Data safety summary
This summary corresponds to the declarations in the app's Google Play Data safety section.
- Data the app itself collects or sends to us: none. The app has no account, and does not transmit your playlists, credentials or viewing history to Zephyr.
- Data collected by third parties (free version only): Google AdMob may collect a device advertising identifier, coarse device and diagnostic information, and in-app interactions, in order to deliver and measure adverts and to prevent fraud.
- Data shared: only the data described above, with Google, for advertising in the free version. We do not sell personal information.
- Encryption in transit: network requests use encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) where the endpoint supports it. Please note that some IPTV providers serve content over plain HTTP. That is outside our control and is determined by the provider you choose.
- Deletion: uninstalling the app removes all local data. You can also reset or delete your advertising identifier in the Android settings. See section 8.
3. What you provide, and where it goes
- Playlists and provider details. You add an M3U or M3U8 playlist URL or file, or an Xtream-style host, username and password. These are stored on your device, and used to connect directly from your device to the provider you chose. We do not receive a copy.
- Programme guide (EPG). If your provider, or a guide URL you add, offers an EPG, the app fetches it directly from that source.
- Playback. Streams are requested by your device directly from your provider. We are not in the path of your video, and we do not log what you watch.
4. Device permissions
- Internet and network access, to load your playlists, EPG and streams, and adverts in the free version.
- Storage access (optional), only if you import a playlist file from your device.
- A foreground-service and notification permission, to support background audio and playback controls.
5. Information collected by third-party services
Google AdMob (adverts, free version only)
The free version shows adverts supplied by Google AdMob. To deliver, personalise (where permitted) and measure adverts, and to prevent fraud, Google's advertising technology may collect your device advertising identifier, coarse device and diagnostic data, IP address and advert interactions. Please see How Google uses information from apps that use our services and the Google Privacy Policy. The Pro upgrade removes adverts and this data collection.
Google Play Billing and Google Play services
Any purchase, such as Pro, is processed by Google Play Billing. We receive confirmation of your entitlement, but not your payment details. Google Play may collect standard, largely aggregated app statistics and crash diagnostics at the platform level, governed by Google's own policies.
The app does not embed any third-party analytics or advertising software other than as described above.
6. How information is used
- To provide the player's features: loading your playlists and EPG, and playing the streams you choose.
- By Google, to deliver and measure adverts in the free version, and to process Pro purchases.
7. Legal bases for processing (users in the EEA and UK)
- Performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request, to provide the app and process purchases.
- Consent, for personalised adverts where consent is required. You can manage this through your device's advert settings and any consent prompt shown to you.
- Legitimate interests, to show non-personalised adverts in the free version, and to keep the app secure and prevent fraud, balanced against your rights and freedoms.
8. Sharing, sale, retention and deletion
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising beyond the AdMob processing described in section 5. Your sources, settings and favourites are stored locally, and are kept until you remove them or uninstall the app. Uninstalling deletes this local data. You can reset or delete your advertising identifier under Android Settings, in the Privacy or Ads section. We hold no personal data about you on our servers. For any request, please write to [email protected].
9. Your rights
If you are in the EEA or the UK, the GDPR gives you the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw your consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
If you are in California, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. You will not be treated differently for exercising these rights.
To exercise any right, please contact [email protected]. You can also edit or delete any source, clear the app's data, reset your advertising identifier, or uninstall the app at any time.
10. International data transfers
The third-party providers we rely on (Google) may process data in countries other than your own. Where this is required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Security
The app stores your sources on your device, and connects over encrypted transport where the provider supports it. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
12. Lawful use and third-party content
ZephyrTV is a player only. You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to access any playlist, service or content you add to it. We do not endorse, control or take responsibility for third-party content, and third-party services operate under their own privacy practices.
13. Children
ZephyrTV is a general-audience player. It is not directed at children under the age of 13, or the minimum age required in your country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves, or as the law changes. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, give notice within the app or on this page.
